The £1.3m facility, being constructed by NK Construction Ltd and to be operated by the Department of Health and Social Care, was approved by Tynwald at its February sitting 2015.
At a sod cutting ceremony to mark the start of construction work, member for adult social care Services David Quirk MHK said:
‘We are fortunate to be able to invest in new facilities like this, which will serve some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
‘Providing modern and fit-for-purpose accommodation makes a real difference to the quality of life of residents and helps us to deliver our care to a high standard.”
New Purpose Built Storage Shed – Andreas
New Build, Three Bedroom End Terrace house – Douglas.
Construction of a new build 2 storey building including changing rooms, dry rooms and a conference room for the Department of Education.
Conversion and extension of the original Police Station into 5 separate apartments complete with new kitchens, Bathrooms and a full internal decoration.
Replacement of both front and rear doors to the vast majority of council properties with the new Composite doors.
Replacement of approx. 7.5km of new security fencing around the perimeter of the Airport, together with new security checkpoints.
New build changing facilities for the Isle of Man Government of traditional cavity construction with pre-finished coloured block external finish and blue aluminium windows and timber doors.
External refurbishment of 68 existing Local Authority Housing, comprising propriety render system and replacement roofing.
Refurbishment of 46 existing Local Authority Housing, comprising new bathrooms, kitchens, electrics, plumbing and decoration. Also included external works such as disabled ramps.
